My Kuromi Collection

If Sanrio characters had a cool older sister, I’m convinced it would be Kuromi. She’s mischievous, playful, and somehow manages to make skulls look absolutely adorable. Her pastel goth aesthetic is a fun departure from the sweeter Sanrio characters, which is probably why I’ve fallen so hard for her plushies over the years.

Out of all the plushies in my Kuromi collection, this one holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of one of my favorite stops during my Southwest USA bus tour—Las Vegas! I picked up this adorable Las Vegas-exclusive Kuromi plush during my trip, making her both a cute collectible and a sweet travel souvenir.

This plush perfectly captures the glitz and glamour that Las Vegas is known for. Her black jester hood is covered in shimmering sequins that sparkle beautifully in the light, giving her a fun and flashy look that’s fitting for the Entertainment Capital of the World. Even better, “Las Vegas” is embroidered across the back of her hood in bright pink script, making her a wonderful reminder of my time there.

I love that Sanrio didn’t overcomplicate the design. While she’s dressed in her classic Kuromi outfit, the sequins add just the right amount of Vegas sparkle without taking away from her mischievous personality. She’s glamorous, playful, and unapologetically extra—much like Las Vegas itself.

One of my favorite things about collecting plushies while traveling is that they instantly become little memory keepers. Whenever I look at this Kuromi plush, I’m reminded of wandering through the brightly lit casinos and gift shops in Las Vegas during my Southwest adventure. There’s something special about bringing home a souvenir that combines two of my favorite things: travel and Sanrio.

While I may have left Las Vegas with slightly less room in my suitcase, I certainly don’t regret making space for this sparkly little troublemaker. After all, what’s a trip to Las Vegas without bringing home something that sparkles?
