Hi pretties! Every blogger I know and their mother is always harping on about how blogging is a dying art. I beg to differ, however. Blogging will be an undying art. Here are some reasons why blogging will never die.
Social media can shut down without warning
Blogging will never die because social media platforms can shut down with little to no warning. Take Vine, musically, and Myspace for example. All three of those platforms either shut down or became distant memories. Social media platforms can also shut down your account without any warning. You could get falsely reported. Having your own platform not only mitigates that risk, but it also lets you be as creative as you want to.
Blogs tend to be more trustworthy sources for reviews
Whenever I want to buy a new beauty product, I sometimes read reviews. The reviews I read are most often from fellow bloggers. I’m not sure if I’m just extremely jaded to social media, but I do not trust the opinion of someone who raves about a product on Instagram. I realize that these people are few and far between, but there are some “influencers” who pretend to like something just for the fat paycheck, and then they end up throwing the product away or donating it. With blogs, there is at least some sort of trustworthiness. You can really tell by a blogger’s writing whether or not they loved the product.
Social media feels disingenuous
In the age of social media, it’s hard to trust opinions. Like the statement aforementioned, social media platforms like Instagram and Tiktok are only a highlights reel. There is very little real life content. That is because to be successful on those platforms, people feel an intense pressure to be aesthetically pleasing. Nobody on Instagram wants to see a messy bedroom, or even a small simple kitchen. They want the big, glossy kitchens with the center islands. They want an all-white and marble bathroom. Unfortunately, that is far from reality for most people. Blogging, for me, feels more realistic and relatable.
It’s much easier to change a blog to go with your current life
We’ve all had those moments where we’ve changed our blogs to fit in with our current life. I know for me, I’ve done it multiple times. That’s much easier to do on a blog than on a social media platform. People on social media platforms are so used to what you post that when you change something, you will definitely lose followers. This is yet another reason why blogging will never die. A blog can change alongside you, but for social media, that task is much harder.
There are no character limits on a blog
The last reason why blogging will never die is because a blog does not have a hard-set character limit. We all know the infamous Twitter/X character limit of 280 characters. Same goes with Tiktok captions. With a blog, you can go in depth as much as you want on a particular subject without having to shorten any paragraphs or make it simpler. I find great joy from writing, so that would be an excellent choice.
