Hi pretties! Here is why blogging will always be important. Many content creators have abandoned their blogs in favor of apps like Instagram and TikTok. Most newer content creators don’t even rely on blogging at all, instead opting to rely on those same apps. As much as these new forms of social media are popular, a blog will always be a staple. I’ve had a blog of some form for about 12 years, and here’s why it’ll always be important.
You own your blog
If you have a WordPress.org blog, you own your blog through hosting services. Owning a website is so much better than relying on social media. With social media, you can have your account suspended or hacked out of nowhere. With a blog, that chance is basically close to zero. The only way your blog will ever get hacked or suspended is if you stop paying for hosting and let your domain expire. As much as we love to complain about the Instagram algorithm and Youtube not showing videos to anyone, at the end, if you rely on those platforms, you are at their mercy.
You can do as you wish with your blog
Unlike social media platforms, you can do whatever you want with your blog. I’ve heard horror stories from a few people I used to follow on Instagram where they have been suspended for ridiculous reasons, even though they weren’t breaking the rules. With a blog, you can swear, you can write about taboo topics, and you could definitely do whatever you want with it without getting in trouble. I’ve seen many people use their blogs as a diary. I’ve seen bloggers utilize their blogs like an editorial magazine.
Blogging teaches you valuable skills
You can learn valuable skills from creating content, yes, but blogging teaches you so many skills. With blogging, you will be able to learn SEO, writing, photography, coding, web design, digital marketing, etc. The list goes on and on. With Instagram, Youtube, and TikTok, you can learn video editing and editing software such as Photoshop and Lightroom, but those skills pale in comparison to skills that are learned through blogging.
Long form content will always be king
Long form content will always reign over short form content. Sure, short form content may be popular, but the real treasure comes from long form content. Long form content contains more sustenance and meaning than short form content (in my personal opinion). Short-form content may give a boost of dopamine for a short while, but eventually, you’ll want to go back to the app and get more dopamine from consuming more short-form content.
Blogging is always evolving
Blogging is always evolving. There is long form blogging, which you see on blogs such as mine, and short-form blogging, which you can see on places like Instagram and Twitter. I love both forms of blogging, although I prefer Instagram because each picture has a story behind it. Blogging is always evolving and changing. I’ve seen blogging break away from the highly edited magazine style back to flatlays like we used to do back in 2015-2017.
Do you believe blogging will always be important?
