how to dress like a millionaire on a budget

Hi pretties! Here is how to dress like a millionaire when you’re on a budget. It can feel impossible to dress like a well-off person on a budget. However, it is entirely possible with the right items. Here’s how it’s done.

No logos

You’ll notice all millionaires (or people with money) will wear clothes with no logos whatsoever. That’s because logos are tacky (in my personal opinion). There’s also no need to break your budget simply to buy something with a big, flashy logo on it. If that’s what you want, then you do you queen. However, no logos will make you look instantly more tailored. Who wants to be a walking billboard for free? If I’m wearing something with a logo, the company whose logo is on whatever clothing I’m wearing better pay me as I’m literally just a walking advertisement for them. The only logos I’ll wear is if they are tiny enough to not overtake the rest of the item I’m wearing.

Tailored clothing

Another way to look like a million dollars without stretching your budget is to wear clothing that is tailored to you. Although getting something hemmed or altered may cost a pretty penny, you’ll rest assured that the item you’re getting tailored will fit to your liking and will last a long time. Getting your clothing tailored also makes them last longer.

Accessories

One thing that I noticed well-off people do is wear dainty jewelry. None of that flashy jewelry stuff. You won’t spot that gaudy costume necklace on a girl boss. You won’t see Kate, Princess of Wales adorning her fingers with huge, gaudy diamonds. Dainty, minimal pieces is where it’s at. You can get some pretty good dainty jewelry pieces on a budget at stores like Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, or even at H&M.

Another accessory that well-off people wear are structured handbags or totes. Sure, the Hermes Kelly bag may be some people’s dream bag, but you don’t necessarily need to spend $20k on a bag just to look well off. A simple black tote bag or even a simple backpack is good enough.

For me, the accessories that make me feel like a millionaire are simple bags, like my Coach Kenley backpack which is all white, or a simple tote bag like my Kate Spade Greta Court tote.

Shoes

Another way to look like a millionaire without breaking your budget is to invest in a good pair of shoes. You don’t necessarily have to invest hundreds of dollars into a pair of good shoes. Sure, it may be a nice investment. However, you shouldn’t make yourself go broke just to look good. A pair of shoes made out of quality materials should suffice. Think about a pair of pleather loafers, or even a pair of leather Chelsea boots. Those will go a long way.

Take care of your clothing

Taking good care of your clothing is so important. I always follow the instructions on the tag. If it says to hang dry, I pop the piece of clothing on a hanger as soon as the washer is done. If it says lay flat to dry, I try to find a flat surface and put the item on top of a towel so the floor doesn’t get wet. I often follow these instructions so my clothing lasts longer. The only pieces of clothing I will throw in the dryer with no thought are T-shirts (turned inside out of course), sweatpants, and pajamas. By taking proper care of your clothing, especially when it comes to washing them, they will last a lot longer.
