Hi pretties! Blogging for over 10 years is quite a long time. There are some things I still stress about, but other things I do not stress about. Here are 5 things I no longer stress about as a content creator.
Trying to make every photo look like it came straight from a magazine
I know the editorial style is in right now. It’s just one of the things I no longer stress about as a content creator. I really loved the simpler flatlay days, where we scattered all our makeup products in a neat little mess. Same goes for fashion shoots (I remember those fashion flatlays where people would put their clothes on the ground). My goal in blogging is to be relatable, and I feel like an editorial-style shoot does not fit that bill.
Trends in beauty and fashion
Trends come and die. That’s why it’s one of the things I no longer stress about as a content creator. Frankly, I find trends to be a little too full of fluff. That’s why I will only pick up past trends if I see them at a thrift store. I even find them at Goodwill. I enjoy being part of a trend I like for a short while. However, it can become exhausting. That’s why I don’t really try to keep up with them.
Overhyped trends
Overhyped trends are the worst kinds of trends, in my opinion. They boom overnight. By the time the trend has died, many of the items bought because of it will end up in landfills. Others will end up in thrift stores. That is why I avoid trends like Stanley Cups, Owala bottles, or even the new Labubu trend that’s popping up. They are collectibles that will end up in someone’s thrift store sooner or later. I don’t stress about overhyped trends. I know deep in my heart that those items will end up at a thrift store or Goodwill. There, I can pay a fraction of the original cost for them.
Having a schedule
The only real schedules I have when it comes to content creating are for my blog and my travel blog. I post on my blog every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 am. For my travel blog, I post every Tuesday at 8 am. Even if I fail at sticking to these schedules, it is okay with me. For me, blogging is something I like to do because I want to share my interests with the world. Sharing tips, favorites, and other things on my own online platform is enough for me.
Having a “stereotypical” desk
Everyone knows the stereotypical content creator desk. Those shiny white IKEA Alex drawers with a shiny white tabletop, with a neutral chair and laptop/iMac. I was one of those people who wanted that so bad, but realized it was a lot of money. Now, I have a standing desk which is good as I also have a walking pad to put underneath. You don’t need to spend $1000 in furniture to have the “perfect” content creator setup. Even blogging on your bed with a laptop is good enough.
