Hi pretties! 💕
If there’s one thing that’s evolved with me through the years, it’s my personal style. My taste in lip gloss and coffee orders has changed too. I’ve experienced nearly every aesthetic phase you can imagine. I’ve been a minimalist, coquette, neutral capsule girl, and pastel princess. I’ve explored everything in between.
But somewhere between experimenting, decluttering, and learning what feels right on my body, I had a realization. Style is personal. It’s not about chasing trends. It’s not about fitting into one category. It’s about finding comfort, confidence, and identity in what you wear.
Here are the eight lessons I’ve learned along the way. Maybe you’ll see a little bit of yourself in them too 🌷
Comfort Doesn’t Mean Sloppy
There was a time I believed that “put together” meant structured blazers and heels that pinched. Now? Comfort is my non-negotiable — but it doesn’t mean giving up on looking cute.
I’ve learned that soft knits, flowy silhouettes, and breathable fabrics can look intentional when styled thoughtfully. My trick is mixing cozy with polished. For example, I pair sweatpants with a fitted top. Another option is wearing a hoodie layered under a tailored coat.
Style tip: When you feel physically comfortable, you look more confident.
Quality Over Quantity
I used to chase the thrill of trends — impulse-buying pieces that ended up collecting dust. Now I’d rather have a smaller wardrobe filled with items that last, fit beautifully, and make me feel like me.
Buying better-made clothes has taught me something valuable. Style isn’t about having more. It’s about having the right pieces that serve you.
Style tip: Ask yourself before buying, “Can I see myself wearing this at least 10 times?” If the answer is no, it’s probably not worth it.
Neutrals Are Your Friend (But Don’t Fear Color)
For the longest time, I lived in neutrals — whites, beiges, soft browns. They’re timeless and photograph beautifully, but lately, I’ve learned to sprinkle in color when my mood calls for it.
A pink bag, a soft lavender knit, or a red lip can transform an otherwise simple outfit. Color adds life and personality — and sometimes, it’s the dose of dopamine your day needs.
Style tip: Keep your base neutral, then add one “happy color” accent — like a scarf, shoe, or lip shade.
Fit Matters More Than Labels
It doesn’t matter if it’s designer or thrifted — if it fits well, it’ll always look expensive.
I used to force myself into trending silhouettes that didn’t flatter me, just to fit a certain aesthetic. Now I pay attention to fit, fabric, and feeling. Tailoring and proper sizing make a bigger difference than a logo ever.
Style tip: Don’t be afraid to size up or get something altered. Your comfort is worth more than a tag number.
Your Style Should Reflect You, Not Just Trends
It’s so easy to get swept up in what’s trending on TikTok or Pinterest. The truth is — trends fade. You don’t.
Now, when I put together an outfit, I ask myself:
“Would I still wear this in a year?”
“Does this feel like something I’d reach for on my best day?”
When you stop dressing for algorithms and start dressing for your authentic self, you’ll notice how naturally your confidence grows.
Style tip: Inspiration is great, but use it as a guide — not a rulebook.
Mixing High & Low Works Like Magic
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that balance makes an outfit interesting. I love mixing a $15 basic with a favorite designer piece or pairing vintage finds with new staples.
The contrast makes your look feel approachable. It also feels intentional, like you know your style. However, you don’t take it too seriously.
Style tip: Style isn’t about price — it’s about how you mix textures, shapes, and energy.
Your Wardrobe Should Support Your Lifestyle
This one was a game-changer. I used to hold onto heels I never wore. I kept blouses that didn’t match my day-to-day life. I also had “someday outfits” that just took up space.
Now, I build my wardrobe based on my daily activities. These include creating content, working from cafés, and traveling. I also consider cozy days at home.
Style tip: If it doesn’t fit your real life, it doesn’t belong in your regular rotation.
Style Evolves — And That’s Okay
Your style will change — and that’s not something to resist; it’s something to celebrate.
I’ve gone through so many phases, and each one represented a version of me I needed at the time. Evolving doesn’t mean you’ve lost your identity — it means you’re growing into it.
Style tip: Don’t box yourself in. Let your wardrobe grow with you.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, personal style isn’t about perfection — it’s about expression. It’s the quiet confidence that comes from wearing something that feels like home.
My journey taught me that style doesn’t have to be rigid, expensive, or defined by a single aesthetic. It just has to feel authentic — and that’s what makes it beautiful. 💕

I love the thought that went into figuring out what factors into your personal style. I think this is something I need to do as I have somehow ended up getting a bit lost by it all. I definitely feel the same way about heels and t-shirts!
