Hi pretties! Being a blogger isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s tough, but in the end, it’s rewarding. Here are 5 reasons why I love being a blogger!

The ability to express myself

Blogging has given me a new ability to express myself. I struggle with self-expression a lot of the time due to my autism and ADHD, so writing reallty helps me with that aspect of my life. Generally speaking most days, writing is easier than speaking. This is because for me, I know what I want to say, but the words jumble themselves in my brain, so it doesn’t come out as intended.

I love sharing my experiences

I’ve been a blogger for over a decade, and I love sharing my experiences with the world. Blogging has brought me through many life events, from my father’s death, to losing my uncle, cousin, and grandmother, and finally, through various jobs and my relationships. Blogging has always carried me through hard times, and I love sharing those experiences so people won’t feel alone. Sharing my experiences with things I’ve gone through (for example grief and being neurodivergent) makes it easier for me to connect with people.

The ability to create what I want to see online

One thing I definitely love about blogging is I get to create what I want to see online. I love seeing flatlays and other aesthetic photos. It makes me feel a bit sad that everything on Instagram these days seem to require editorial level editing. As I miss the days of just showing off your favorite products, I’ve taken it upon myself to go back to that aesthetic- beautiful makeup flatlays that don’t require them to look like they came out from an issue of Vogue.

It’s like a mini time capsule

Blogging feels like a time capsule. I get to reread what I wrote about. It’s interesting to find old posts online and see what I liked, what photos I took, and what makeup and fashion styles I liked wearing at the time. As an almost 31 year old woman, it’s nostalgic to look back and see what 20 year old me did when she first started blogging.

It allows me total creative freedom

Blogging allows me total creative freedom. Unlike social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter, you can post about whatever you like on the blog. You can’t post about “sad things” like mental health, death, or depression on social media, for fear of getting reported. There are blogs out there dedicated to mental health, having a better sex life, and other things. I love how with blogging, you’re not restricted to having to write about safe for work topics. You can take your blog to not safe for work topics like sex, mental health, and death.
