Hi pretties! I’ve been making content for almost a decade at this point in my life, and I have learned many lessons throughout the years. Here are 10 important lessons from content creation that I’ve learned.
Be authentic to yourself
This is definitely one lesson I struggled with. I’m neurodivergent, so masking is the default reaction for me. When I mask, I’m not being authentic. One important lesson I learned is to be authentic to yourself. Each blogger and content creator has their own personal voice, and I felt like I wasn’t doing that for the longest time. I wanted to make content like everyone else, but now I know it’s better to make content that aligns with what I want instead of copying what other people are doing.
Don’t be afraid to tell friends and family
For a long time, I was afraid of promoting my content to my family and friends. I was afraid of being judged. It’s very stereotypical that people don’t think anything done online is a “real job”. I’ve chosen to make content creating a hobby. I’ve learned that it’s okay to show friends and family. Your friends will very likely be supportive. Your family will also support you in your goals.
Don’t be afraid to promote yourself
Being afraid to promote yourself only leads to your content not being seen by potential viewers. For the longest time I didn’t want to promote my content because I was afraid that people would find it annoying. I’ve quickly learned that self promotion is so important for pushing content and I should not be afraid to do that. If people get annoyed at me for pushing their content, then they are not the kind of people I want following me anyway.
Creating content can teach you valuable skills
Throughout my content creation, this is one of the more valuable lessons from content creation that I’ve learned. People who don’t create content may think that content creators are lazy. There’s so much work that goes behind content creation. A content creator must brainstorm, film or write, edit the post, and promote it. Content creation gets a bit tougher when it comes to sponsorships and PR. There are so many skills that people can learn through content creation, like SEO optimization, writing, video editing, and much more.
Creating content can be inspiring
Creating content can be very rewarding and inspiring. I’ve read so many blogs and met so many bloggers that have truly inspired me to keep going. By meeting other people who have been creating content for years, I learned not to give up on my dreams. I’ve also learned that these people always inspire me to keep working hard on my content and blog, and that’s such an amazing thing to learn.
